The Talkeetna Historical Society was founded in 1972 by residents concerned with protecting Talkeetna's historical sites. Moose Dropping Festival The annual Moose Dropping Festival fundraiser, held the second week of July, along with museum admissions, enables the Society to continue work on important projects, such as the stabilization of Belle's Barn and an interpretive trail. In addition to a variety of exhibits, the Little Red School House Museum has a unique gift store, offering a large selection of books about the area and its historical past. Please join us in helping to protect and preserve Talkeetna's history by becoming a member, and by making a contribution to the Talkeetna Historical Society.

Talkeetna was placed on the National Register of Historic Places
April 26, 1993.
